João Maurício Galindo is the principal conductor of the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica. Based in São Paulo, the largest city in South America, and comprising 70 musicians, it is one of the few symphonic orchestras in the world fully devoted to so-called “popular music,” consistently performing rich and sophisticated arrangements.

Having worked with the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica for twenty years, Galindo has developed extensive experience in conducting this unique repertoire.

He has led projects with artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ute Lemper, Stacey Kent, Fred Cole, Stefon Harris, John Pizzarelli, Jane Monheit, Ted Nash, Regina Carter, Ray Lema, Richard Galliano, Philip Catherine, Rosa Passos, César Camargo Mariano, João Bosco, Guinga, and many others.

He has also brought this experience to international stages, conducting performances in countries such as Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Latvia, Portugal, Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, and Peru.

Maestro Galindo has a background in classical music and also works with the symphonic repertoire and opera.
