João Maurício Galindo is the principal conductor of the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica. With 70 musicians and established in São Paulo, the biggest city of South America, this is one of the few symphonic orchestras in the world fully devoted to the so called “popular music”, always performing rich and sophisticated arrangements.

Working with the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica for twenty years, Galindo has developed an enormous experience in conducting this unique repertoire.

He has directed projects with artists such as Paquito de Rivera, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dee Dee Briedgewater, Ute Lemper, Stancey Kent, Fred Cole, Stefon Harris, John Pizzarelli, Jane Monheit, Ted Nash, Regina Carter, Ray Lema, Richard Galliano, Philip Catherine, Rosa Passos, Cesar Camargo Mariano, João Bosco, Guinga, and many others.

He has also taken that experience abroad, conducting in countries such as Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Latvia, Portugal, Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, and Peru.

Maestro Galindo has a classical music background, working also with traditional symphonic music and opera.
